Inquiry over Wellingborough school's lane plan

Wellingborough Civic Society wants to save the trees

A public inquiry has started into a Northamptonshire school's plan to build a new road through a walkway.

Wellingborough School wants to build an access road to the school along the tree-lined lane linking the town centre to the river, The Walks.

The school has said the new road would be a safer entrance for pupils to use than the current one on Irthlingborough Road.

Wellingborough Borough Council first refused the application last year.
