Plans for a new leisure centre in a Northamptonshire town have been approved.

The development at the Grange housing estate in Desborough will include 13 affordable flats.

The leisure centre will house a four-badminton-court sports hall, a fitness gym, three play areas, squash courts and two junior football pitches.

Environmental health officers have said high levels of naturally occurring arsenic at the site need to be tackled.

One of the conditions of the planning permission is that decontamination should be carried out in accordance with DEFRA and Environment Agency rules.
