Taxi passenger dies in van crash

A 71-year-old woman was killed when the taxi she was travelling in was in a crash with a van in Northamptonshire.

The taxi and orange E.ON van were at crossroads on Wappingham Road, Abthorpe in Towcester, on Thursday morning.

Enid Lawrence from Slapton in Towcester died at the scene. The other female passenger is at Northampton General Hospital with serious injuries.

The 59-year-old van driver has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
