Firefighters tackle flash floods

Fire crews were called to seven flood related incidents in Northamptonshire after a burst of heavy rain.

Homes, businesses and a school were hit and a manhole cover was swept away causing a hazard to traffic on a main road through Kettering.

Fire engines pumped out flood water from the homes or gave advice to householders, a spokesman said.

A car showroom in Islip was flooded and Millbrooke Infants School in Kettering was under threat from rising water.
