Grand Prix crime advice is issued

Northamptonshire police have put together a crime prevention package for the Formula One British Grand Prix.

About 200,000 race enthusiasts, some of them campers, will be on site at Silverstone for the event between 19 and 21 June.

Crime prevention officer Kate Wright has drawn up a list of measures to help keep people "safe and sound".

Tips include leaving tents untidy so thieves cannot find items and carrying a torch after dark.

Mrs Wright said: "While the number of crimes is small, certain types of crime are common and visitors to the grand prix can do a lot to prevent themselves from becoming a victim.

"Essentially we are sending crime prevention messages to campers around tent security."

The full list of tips is on the Northamptonshire Police website.
