Second swine flu case in county

A second case of swine flu has been confirmed in Northamptonshire, health officials have revealed.

They said the patient was already receiving anti-viral drugs after being in contact with the woman who became the county's first confirmed case.

The latest case involves an adult who tested positive for the same strain as that previously identified.

The first Northamptonshire case was confirmed on Wednesday. The number of confirmed cases in the UK is 47.

In a statement about the latest case, East Midlands NHS said: "This does not represent sustained human-to-human transmission.

"The patient had contact with the individual who had reported illness and travel history to Mexico.

"The risk to the general public is still very low."
