Underwater teams are expected to be brought in to search locks and waterways

The search is continuing for a woman who went missing from her home in Northamptonshire on New Year's Day.

Underwater searches have been carried out near the Oundle home of 45-year-old mother-of-two Gillian Merrick.

Police plan to hold further ground and water searches and use the force helicopter as part of the operation.

Mrs Merrick, who is recovering from a back operation, had been with her husband, Nick, and their teenage son and daughter before she disappeared.

About 50 people joined police in the search on Monday in and around Oundle.

Northamptonshire Police appealed for a lorry driver to come forward who reported seeing a woman in the carriageway of the A605 close to Oundle, after Mrs Merrick went missing.

It is thought she was wearing a beige jacket, red scarf and gloves.

She is about 5ft 6in tall (1.67m), slim, with a fair complexion and collar-length brown straight hair.

Northamptonshire Police said they were carrying out a "painstaking" search.
