Mercedes turbine plans scrapped

Mercedes Benz has scrapped plans to erect two wind turbines in the car park of its Northampton factory.

The company wanted to generate electricity for its Brixworth site using two 127m turbines.

A number of locals objected claiming that the turbines would spoil the scenery and that there was not enough wind to make them effective.

Mercedes has withdrawn the plans after persuading its current supplier to get more power from renewable sources.
