Thirty firefighters tackle blaze

Thirty firefighters were called to a house fire in Northamptonshire after neighbours heard a loud bang followed by smoke billowing from the roof.

The fire broke out in a semi-detached home in Wick Close, Corby, on Sunday.

Station manager Ady Mitchell, of Northamptonshire Fire Service, said evacuation of the building was the first priority.

Specialist equipment and aerial ladders were also brought to the scene from Kettering and Wellingborough.

An investigation has started into the cause of the fire which broke out late on Sunday night.
