Three held after serious assault

Three people were arrested after a 65-year-old suffered serious injuries during an assault in Northamptonshire.

Police said the man was involved in an "altercation" in the Vine Hill Drive area of Higham Ferrers on Thursday when he thought his car had been damaged.

He is said to be in a critical condition in hospital in Oxford.

A 17-year-old boy and two men aged 19 and 40 were arrested at a property in Higham Ferrers and are being questioned by officers.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 2200 GMT and 2230 GMT to get in touch.
