Eight arrested over shop assault

Eight people have been arrested in connection with an assault outside a Northamptonshire supermarket.

A 42-year-old man sustained a head injury during the assault near Asda, in Rushden, on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford in a serious but stable condition.

Five men were arrested on Saturday and later bailed and another three men have been held and bailed since then. Police have appealed for witnesses.
