Woman is locked in room by robber

A masked robber who locked an 82-year-old woman in a room in her own home is being sought by police.

The woman was woken up by a man wearing a balaclava in her home in East Park Parade, Northampton, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man locked her in a room in the rear of the house before escaping with cash and jewellery, leaving her with minor injuries.

The robber is described as white and aged between 20 and 30.

Police say such incidents are rare, and are appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.
