Lorry driver hurt in crash on A14

The driver of a container lorry has been seriously injured in a crash on the westbound A14 in Northamptonshire.

The lorry left the road on Tuesday evening between junctions 10 for Burton Latimer and 9 for Isham, near Kettering, a police spokesman said.

It plunged down an embankment, overturned and hit trees.

A 50-year-old driver, from Nottingham, was taken to Kettering General Hospital with serious injuries. The carriageway was closed for seven-and-a-half hours.

The scene was also forensically examined by collision investigators before the vehicle was removed.
