SmartWater shows up under ultra-violet light

People living in Northampton have been given the chance to have their homes protected by SmartWater.

State-of-the-art kits will be given to people living on the East Lloyds estate in Corby.

SmartWater has a unique DNA code and is invisible to the naked eye but fluorescent under ultra-violet light.

People living in parts of Wellingborough, Rushden and Kettering have already been given the kits as part of a crime-fighting initiative.

People who are arrested and taken into custody are routinely checked for SmartWater which stays on skin and clothing for a long time.

Any property recovered by police and believed to be stolen will also checked.
