Sledgehammer used in armed raid

A gang of armed robbers used a sledgehammer and a knuckle-duster to smash their way into a clearance bargains warehouse in Northamptonshire.

Four raiders forced their way into the cash office of the warehouse in Cronin Road, Corby, on Monday night.

They threatened staff before escaping with an unknown quantity of cash.

Three of the robbers made their getaway in a stolen BMW 5 series car while the fourth robber sped off on a red and black coloured off-road motorcycle.

The BMW was later found abandoned in Fermyn Woods.

Northamptonshire Police are appealing to anyone with information about the robbery, which was committed at about 2000 BST, to contact them.
