SmartWater shows up under ultra-violet light
|
People living in Northampton have been given the chance to have their homes protected by SmartWater.
Staff from the Safer Community Team will offer to mark property for people living in Semilong.
SmartWater has a unique DNA code and is invisible to the naked eye but fluorescent under ultra-violet light.
Police officers began the initiative in Essex Street and Cambridge Street and will be returning to different parts of Semilong in coming weekends.
Spring Lane and Castle Primary Schools will also be adorned with SmartWater.
People who are arrested and taken into custody are routinely checked for SmartWater which stays on skin and clothing for a long time.
Any property recovered by police and believed to be stolen will also checked.
