A distribution centre which has created 200 jobs in a Northamptonshire town is set to become operational this month.

Tyre retailer Kwik Fit has invested £10m in the centre in Corby which will store up to 300,000 tyres to distribute across the UK.

Used tyres will also be returned to the distribution centre, which is the size of six football pitches, where they will be sorted and shredded.

Kwik Fit said Corby was chosen for the site because of its central location.

Chris Bosworth, marketing and business development director, added: "Its proximity to a large number of major road networks has already put it on the map as a major logistics area, giving us instant access to an experienced talent pool."
