New police authority chief named

A new chief executive has been appointed to the police authority in Northamptonshire after the previous post holder resigned earlier this year.

Debbie Roe has served on the authority for six years and had previously been deputy chief executive.

She replaces Paul Reichelt, who resigned in March during an investigation into his conduct.

Police authority chair Deirdre Newham said Mrs Roe has a wealth of national, regional and local policing knowledge.

'Outstanding applicant'

Northamptonshire Police Authority said Mr Reichelt tendered his resignation by mutual agreement on 6 March.

He had been suspended pending the inquiry, but no details about the inquiry and his conduct have been made public.

A police spokesman said the inquiry had concluded.

On the appointment of Mr Reichelt's successor, Mrs Newham said: "We advertised nationally for this post and had an excellent response.

"Debbie proved to be an outstanding applicant and we are looking forward to her guiding us through the challenges facing the authority in the next 12 months."
