Ban on village house development

A development ban on 10 acres of land in Northamptonshire means land owners must have planning permission to erect fences, walls or any other enclosures.

South Northamptonshire Council also warned anyone investing in greenfield land in Moreton Pinkney applications to build homes were likely to be refused.

The council has secured an order which removes development rights on 10 acres of land in Plumpton Lane.

Planning permission is now required to erect any type of building on the land.

A council spokesman said: "We want to warn those who wish to invest in the land, that any application put forward to the council is likely to be refused.

"This is a very attractive area of the countryside and the council attaches a high priority to protecting such areas from development.

"We suggest that before purchasing land with the intentions of future development, people need to contact the council first to find out if planning permission is likely to be granted."
