Mobile fingerprinting kit expands
A hand-held mobile fingerprinting device is to be used more widely after a successful trial in Northamptonshire.

Police claim it has saved hundreds of hours of time and led to a significant number of arrests.

Twelve officers have been using six devices in a one-year trial that began in January 2007.

Officers were able to carry out fingerprint identity checks by the side of the road, saving time spent in taking people to a police station.
