A new civic centre in Corby is a flagship for conservation
A borough council is reviewing its conservation areas and wants to enlist residents' help in creating a new one.

Corby council is asking for views on the proposed designation of East Carlton village as a conservation area.

The aim is to draft appraisals and management plans for East Carlton and the existing Lloyds conservation area.

Details of area boundaries can be inspected at the council offices or on its website but comments on plans must be submitted to the borough by 5 March.

A £50m regeneration landmark buildings project is under way to transform Corby town centre.

The borough council also has a strong commitment to developing heritage in the town and surrounding villages, it says.

The Lloyds estate was one of the first housing developments in the town when workers were recruited in Scotland in the 1930s to work at the new Stewart and Lloyds plant in the town.

East Carlton is an historic village outside the town and is home to nine listed buildings and a large country park estate.
