Historic Delapre Abbey is the site of the battle of Northampton

A former abbey and surrounding estate dating back to 1145 could become a designated conservation area.
Northampton Borough Council wants residents to comment on its plans to preserve and enhance Delapre Abbey and its surrounding parks.
A spokesman said the Grade II listed abbey has been an important part of Northampton for centuries.
"Abbey buildings including cottages, a stable block and game larder are also Grade II listed," he said.
The abbey grounds include a walled garden, a 19th Century picturesque garden and some parkland.
The council wants to carry out further research into the historic and natural environment of the park and gardens, improve the security and appearance of the area and boost people's access and understanding of the park.
Richard Church, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "Delapre Abbey holds a unique place in the town's history so it is only fitting that we look at making the abbey grounds a conservation area.
"This is a chance to preserve a piece of the town's history for future generations, so I would encourage everyone to have their say on the proposals."
