Conservatives have boosted their control of South Northamptonshire Council.

The Tory group gained seven more seats, four at the expense of independents and three from Labour.

The Conservatives now hold 35 out of the 42 seats - while the independents have six seats and Labour one.

The previous political make up of the Council was 28 Conservative, 10 independent and four Labour. The council is based in Towcester.

One Labour member was defeated by the Tories who retain overall control at Daventry Borough Council with a majority of 32 of the council's 38 seats.
