Racing driver injured in accident
A racing driver is recovering in hospital after he received a serious head injury and a punctured lung during a crash at Silverstone.

Mike Jordan, 48, was injured at the Northamptonshire racing circuit during the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) on Sunday.

A Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance crew was alerted by its operations manager who was at the race.

Mr Jordan, from the West Midlands, was airlifted to hospital.

In a statement on its website, the BTCC said: "During today's (Sunday's) penultimate round...there was an accident involving car number 77, a Honda Integra driven by Mike Jordan for the Team Eurotech Racing with John Guest team.

"Mike has subsequently been airlifted by helicopter to the neurological department of Coventry Hospital in a serious condition, suffering from a significant head injury and a punctured lung."

The statement also said it was believed Mr Jordan, from Sutton Coldfield, had regained consciousness and had spoken to doctors.
