Bomb alert residents return home
Hundreds of people have returned to their homes after being forced to leave when an unexploded bomb was found at a new housing development in Northampton.

The World War II bomb was found by workers dredging the River Nene at the development off London Road.

Northamptonshire Police sealed off a road in Far Cotton and set up an exclusion zone evacuating 300 homes.

A police spokeswoman said a controlled explosion took place on Thursday and the area had returned to normal.
