Work under way on wetland reserve
Work has started on a new wetland project for Northampton.

Nearly £90,000 has been provided by the government to create a nature reserve at Barnes Meadow as part of the River Nene Regional Park.

The Wildlife Trust aims to improve the biodiversity value of the area with permanent pools, ditches, shallow lagoons, mudflats and grassland.

The work is designed to encourage wading birds and insects like dragonflies to populate the area.

Access will also be improved to allow more people to visit the reserve which is on the eastern side of Northampton and in easy walking distance of the town centre.
