Ambulance base may face closure

A St John Ambulance station in East Northants may be closed down after the council refused to renew its lease.

The Thrapston division of the charity on Church Walk has been based in the town for more than 50 years.

A spokesman from the division said they believe the council wants to gain more car park spaces in the area.

A council spokesman said: "There are benefits in making our town attractive and this is underlying our thinking regarding the future of the area."

The East Northamptonshire Council added that there were no firm plans for the land as yet.
