One dead after motorway collision

A rear seat car passenger died after a crash at a junction on the M1 motorway in Northamptonshire on Sunday morning.

Police said they are looking for the driver of a second car which "made a last minute manoeuvre" to leave the motorway at Rothersthorpe.

A following vehicle on the southbound carriageway then hit the central barrier and overturned.

One other person was seriously injured and taken to Northampton General Hospital for treatment.

Police want to interview the driver of the car which left the motorway at junction 15A.

They say that although the vehicle was not involved in the crash the driver could provide valuable information about how it happened.
