Two companies in Northampton are giving women free lifts home from the balloon festival this weekend to make them feel safer after a series of sex attacks.
Between 31 July and 8 August three women were raped and attempts were made to abduct two other women.
Now four minibuses, called The Cinderella Service and driven by women, will take female passengers home from the town's racecourse.
Three men arrested in connection with the sex attacks have been given bail.
No fuel charge
The minibuses, from Abington Vehicle Hire and Artemis Recruitment in Northampton, are being driven by women from the two companies who have volunteered to do it free of charge and in their own time.
There will also be no charge for fuel.
Det Ch Insp John Jones said: "This is a very generous and socially responsible offer which we are very supportive of and which we hope will reduce any fear of crime and at the same time increase public confidence."
The Cinderella Service will pick up women in Leicester Street, near the Balloon Festival Park and Ride, between 2230 BST and 0300 BST over the weekend.
If the scheme is successful, it may carry on into next week, police said.
