A 19-year-old woman is preparing for life in the fast lane after her parents bought her a Formula 1 racing car.
Jodie Hemming, from Moulton, Northants, has had a passion for racing since the age of 10 when she first drove an old 4x4 on some waste ground.
Her passion led her into kart racing and has now landed her a spot competing in a pre-1998 F1 car in the 2005 Euroboss Championship.
Jodie, who works driving a bulldozer, said the thrill was unbelievable.
She told BBC Look East some people have made an issue of her being "a girl".
'The only girl'
"When I come onto the start line to do my interviews and take my helmet off then I can hear people saying 'she's a girl'.
"I get quite a lot of attention from it."
Jodie said she has always been the only girl taking part in many of her hobbies - the only girl in her football team, the sole female in the cricket squad and one of just a few female bulldozer drivers.
"And now I'm the only girl doing this," she said.
The Euroboss Championship is open to anyone who owns a Formula 1 racing car. The 2004 series consisted of nine meetings, including trips to Germany, Belgium and France.
Jodie said the attraction of F1 cars was simply the speed.
"The thrill is unbelievable, the adrenalin starts going through you and you just want to jump in the car and drive."
