Archbishop of York gets city ambassador award

Dr Sentamu was praised for helping to promote York

The Archbishop of York has been honoured for his role in helping to raise the profile of the city.

Dr John Sentamu was given the York Ambassador Award at Visit York's annual tourism awards.

John Yeoman, Visit York chairman, said Dr Sentamu had been "greatly involved" with the local community as well as promoting the city overseas.

Dr Sentamu said he was delighted to receive the award, adding that it was a "great honour".
