Appeal for fatal crash witnesses

Police want to speak to the occupants of this light-coloured 4x4 vehicle

Police in North Yorkshire want to trace the occupants of a 4x4 type vehicle who might have witnessed a crash in which a 10-year-old boy was killed.

Sean Hamilton was hit by a blue Ford Transit van as he crossed Holgate Road in York on 3 October.

Officers said Sean could have crossed the road directly behind the 4x4, which was not involved in the crash.

Five local men arrested in connection with Sean's death remain on police bail as the investigation continues.

Sean had been crossing near the Holgate Bridge, known locally as the Iron Bridge, when he was hit by the van at 2020 BST.

Andy Quigley of North Yorkshire Police said: "I need to trace and speak to the driver and other occupants of this vehicle as a matter of urgency.

"I believe they may well be unaware that a tragic collision took place moments after this CCTV image was filmed, especially if they were just visiting York from other parts of the region or indeed elsewhere in the country."
