Body found in burnt-out caravan

The body of an elderly man has been discovered in a burnt-out caravan in North Yorkshire.

Officers were alerted by fire crews who found the body inside the severely damaged caravan in Appleton Wiske near Northallerton on Sunday morning.

Police said because of the nature of the man's injuries it was not yet possible to identify him.

An inquiry into the circumstances of the fire has been started to establish whether it was suspicious.
