Doubt over jobs at food factory

Some of 160 staff at a food factory in North Yorkshire could be made redundant after a contract was lost at the site.

A spokesperson for Del Monte in York said a consultation was taking place with unions and employees ahead of a final decision.

The spokesperson said a range of options were being considered including job losses and changes to staff shift patterns.

Salads and other foods are prepared at the factory on Skelton Park.
