Racegoers across Yorkshire are to be shown a three-minute video appealing for help in the search for missing chef Claudia Lawrence.

The short film will be shown on big screens at Yorkshire's nine racecourses during their meetings this summer.

Go Racing in Yorkshire, the body that promotes racing in the region, is also putting posters appealing for information around the venues.

Miss Lawrence's father Peter said he was "extremely grateful".

The first showing of the short film will be at Beverley Races on Tuesday.

It will then be shown at York's Dante Festival, which starts on Wednesday, and at Thirsk, Doncaster and Ripon race meetings over the weekend.

Crimestoppers reward

Miss Lawrence, 35, was last seen near her home on 18 March and failed to arrive for work at the University of York the next day.

The investigation into her disappearance is being treated as one of suspected murder.

Mr Lawrence's spokesman, Martin Dales, said: "The family is extremely grateful to Go Racing and all the Yorkshire racecourses for taking Claudia to their heart.

"She has ridden horses since she was very young and her own horse died only fairly recently. She loves going racing and particularly enjoys York Races when it is on.

"We hope that through all this publicity someone somewhere will feel moved to give information to the police or Crimestoppers that will lead to her being reunited with her family and friends as soon as possible."

Crimestoppers has offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction over Miss Lawrence's disappearance.
