Family in plea to missing woman

Claudia Lawrence
She was last seen at her work at York University

The family of a woman who has not been seen since she left work four days ago have pleaded for her to get in touch.

North Yorkshire Police said Claudia Lawrence, 35, was last seen by colleagues at York University in Heslington on Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement, her family said: "Please, please get in touch and let us know you are ok."

She is described as 5ft 6in, slim, with brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and trainers.

Her family said: "Claudia, we are extremely worried about you.

"Each day you remain out of contact, the more concerned and anxious we are becoming.

"We want to know that you are not in trouble and that everyone just wants to know that you are safe and well."

Det Ch Insp Lucy Pope said it was out of character for her to be missing for so long and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
