Livestock saved from barn blaze

Livestock had to be led to safety by fire crews after a blaze broke out on a farm in North Yorkshire.

An electrical fault is believed to be the cause of the fire in a barn at Sneaton Castle Farm, near Whitby, on Saturday night.

The barn was destroyed, along with a caravan, a tractor, hand tools and 1,300 bales of straw.

Sparks were flying on to an adjacent barn containing cattle and horses, and they were moved to a safe place.

One crew remained at the scene damping down on Sunday morning.
