A 16-year-old boy has been bailed by officers investigating an arson attack in Harrogate which left an elderly woman critically ill.

Yuen Har Ho, 93, was rescued from a burning ground-floor flat in Newby Crescent, Jennyfields, on 1 November. She remains in intensive care.

Detectives questioned the local teenager on Monday.

Earlier officers began handing out leaflets and posters offering a £5,000 Crimestoppers reward for information.

The fire was started deliberately in an outside bin.

Officers have also appealed for onlookers at the blaze to hand over photographs of the scene taken with either cameras or mobile phones.

Det Insp Heather Pearson, who is leading the investigation, said a 20-strong team of officers were still investigating the fire.

She said: "All information provided by the public will be treated seriously and all efforts to identify those involved are being rigorously pursued."
