Arson police make picture appeal

Mrs Yuen, 93, remains in a critical condition in hospital

Detectives investigating an arson attack on a flat in Harrogate have appealed for onlookers at the blaze to hand over photographs of the scene.

Yuen Har Ho, 93, is critically ill after being rescued from a burning ground floor flat in Newby Crescent in Harrogate on 1 November.

Investigators said the fire was started deliberately in an outside bin.

Now officers want to sift through pictures taken with either cameras or mobile phones at the scene.

Det Insp Heather Pearson, who is leading the investigation, asked anyone who was at the scene to come forward with pictures they may have taken.

Ms Pearson said: "When the emergency services arrived at the flats to rescue Mrs Ho and deal with the fire, quite a large group of people from the local community were within the area and watched the events.

"It is possible that some may have taken photographs of the fire scene on either a conventional camera or camera phone.

"These images could be very useful to our investigation in terms of identifying witnesses or people who can assist with the inquiry."

A 20-strong team of officers are still investigating the fire in the Jennyfields area.
