Town's £2.4m fire station opened

A multi-million pound fire station has been opened in a North Yorkshire spa town by the county's Lord Lieutenant.

The £2.4m building, on Skipton Road in Harrogate, is the base for fire and rescue vehicles and a high volume pumping unit to deal with flooding.

The new building is on the site of the original station, but now boasts more space for the five fire units.

Lord Crathorne opened the building which also has rooms for the use of community groups in the town.
