The new Selby College has cost £35m to complete

The final phase of a £35m redevelopment of a college in North Yorkshire will begin later.

A ceremony will take place at Selby College on Abbots Road as work gets under way on Friday.

The project includes a new sports hall, media training facilities and science laboratories and beauty salons.

The project, part of a government plan to improve colleges, has taken four years so far. It is expected to be complete by Christmas.

The first phase started in 2004 with a new building for A-level students and IT facilities.

Last year the new Renaissance building opened for arts and health students.
