Man pleads guilty to rape attempt

A man has pleaded guilty to the attempted rape of a woman in North Yorkshire eight years ago.

Neil Pringle, 43, admitted trying to rape the woman, who was 24 at the time, at Park Place in Harrogate in the early hours of 23 November, 2000.

Police said Pringle, of Hargrove Road, was arrested and charged after new evidence came to light.

He was remanded in custody after appearing at York Crown Court and will be sentenced on 26 September.
