Main road misery after accident

A major road in North Yorkshire was closed at the height of the bank holiday after a serious road accident.

Drivers travelling northbound on the A19 were facing delays and diversions after the accident at Borrowby near Thirsk on Monday afternoon.

The road was closed between the A61 and A684 after an incident involving a motorbike, North Yorkshire Police said.

A woman was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries and investigations are under way into the accident.
