York homes firm exits FTSE index

Two companies with North Yorkshire connections have changed places in the FTSE 100 index of top companies.

Home builder Persimmon homes, based in York, exited the index on Monday after the latest recalculation of the main share index.

Power station owner Drax Group - which runs the huge electricity generator plant near Selby - has climbed onto the index of leading shares.

The reshuffle reflects the recent rise in oil and commodity prices.
