Fire crews tackle moorland fire

About 10 firefighters have been tackling a blaze on the North York Moors through the night.

A fire service spokesman said two appliances were called to Fylingdales Moor between Robin Hood's Bay and Whitby just after midnight.

One acre of moorland was alight and firefighters remained at the scene for about three hours.

Crews have revisited the site this morning to check for hotspots. The cause is being investigated.
