City bus route axed amid shake-up

A bus route in York has been scrapped and services reduced on several others in the city as part of a cost-cutting drive by operator First.

The number 23, which served Skelton and Clifton Moor, was withdrawn when a new timetable came into effect on Sunday.

The number 22, which runs on the same route, is to operate off-peak only.

The number 16 between Monks Cross and Acomb will no longer serve Holly Bank and a number of other services will run less frequently.

But there will be additional journeys on the number 10 between Poppleton and Stamford Bridge to serve Dunnington during peak times.

Last month, the number 13 service which serves Monks Cross was saved after talks between First and York's council leader.
