Three new park and ride sites are to be built in York after a £21m funding bid was approved.
A facility will be built on the A59 near Poppleton and another on Wigginton Road. The existing Asham park and ride will be moved to a larger site.
The funding will also enable the introduction of an Oyster-style card for trains and buses around Yorkshire.
York City Council said it was part of a plan to reduce congestion and journey times in the city centre.
The scheme is being funded by the Regional Transport Board.
