Arrest over fatal head-on crash

A driver involved in a head-on collision in which another motorist died has been arrested.

A 70-year-old man from Lancashire was killed in the crash in the Skipton area on Thursday.

His white Peugeot van was involved in a collision with a silver Volkswagen Golf on the A6068, one mile west of Cowling.

Police said the driver of the Golf, a 30-year-old man from the Bradford area, was initially taken to hospital and had been arrested.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said two other vehicles were involved in the collision, but no one else was injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
