Waste sorted ready for recycling
Successful bids will help increase the amount of rubbish recycled
Green charities and community groups in North Yorkshire are being urged to claim their slice of a new grant.

North Yorkshire County Council is inviting bids for a share of the Community Recycling Fund to help raise awareness of recycling activities.

Awards of up to £5,000 are available for schemes which boost the amount of material reused, recycled or composted.

Organisations wanting more information should contact the Community Waste Management Officer on 01609 532045.

County councillor Clare Wood, executive member with responsibility for waste management, said: "The Community Recycling Fund is a great initiative which enables charities and community groups to make a real difference in their local area.

"Community schemes have a large impact on the amount we reuse and recycle and we should do all we can to encourage them to continue with their efforts well into the future."

Applicants are expected to contribute at least 25% to the project cost.

The application deadline for this round of funding is 8 August.
