Two killed in head-on road crash

Two men have been killed in a head-on road accident in North Yorkshire.

A car and a van collided on the A65 near Austwick on Tuesday morning, police said.

The car's male passenger died at the scene and the driver died later in Lancaster Infirmary. The men have not yet been named but lived locally.

The driver and passenger of the van suffered minor injuries. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward. The road was closed for several hours.
